Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto Welcomes Visit from Singapore’s Foreign Minister, Receives Congratulations on Presidential Election Victory

Jakarta — Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto received a visit from Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan at the Defense Ministry office on Tuesday (4/23).

Accompanied by his delegation, Vivian arrived at the Defense Ministry at 2:55 PM local time and was warmly welcomed by Prabowo.

“Congratulations! It’s great to see you. May I hug you? Wishing you all the best. I’m very happy,” Vivian said to Prabowo upon his arrival.

Prabowo greeted him with a warm handshake and a hug. Shortly after, Prabowo invited Vivian and his team to sit down.

“Please, Your Excellency,” said Prabowo.

The meeting aimed to strengthen defense cooperation, ensure maritime security, and enhance capacity and military capabilities. This effort not only strengthens bilateral relations but also contributes to regional peace and stability.

The Defense Ministry also committed to continually enhancing the existing defense cooperation to make it more significant. With the defense cooperation agreement between the two countries now in effect, it is expected that defense cooperation will significantly improve and be mutually beneficial.

“Thank you to Mr. Vivian Balakrishnan for his visit and for the constructive dialogue today. May the partnership between our two countries continue to grow, guided by the principles of mutual respect, trust, and shared prosperity,” said Prabowo.
