Jakarta – President-elect Prabowo Subianto, alongside Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka, expressed their gratitude to the media and press during their attendance at the official confirmation of the president and vice president by the General Election Commission (KPU) in Jakarta, on Wednesday (April 24).
Prabowo declared that a free press is an essential condition for democracy. He acknowledged the hard work of media personnel in delivering news to the public and understood the struggles journalists face while waiting for politicians to confirm information.
“A free and vital press is an absolute requirement of democracy. Although sometimes their words can be harsh to hear, we still appreciate our media and press,” said Prabowo.
On this occasion, Prabowo also sought the prayers and blessings of the public to lead the country. He called on all elements of the nation to work together to make Indonesia a prosperous and welfare-oriented country.
“If Indonesia wants to survive, if Indonesia wants to be a prosperous, welfare-oriented country, then all elements of Indonesia’s leadership elite must work together,” he stated.
“We ask for prayers, great trust, and blessings from all the people of Indonesia, of course. From the Almighty, so that the trust placed on our shoulders can be carried, fulfilled, and enable us to give our best to the people,” Prabowo articulated.
