Jakarta — Political analyst Ujang Komaruddin viewed Prabowo Subianto’s gesture of visiting the headquarters of his election rival, Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) at PKB, following the official declaration by the KPU, as reflective of a true statesman.
“This shows Prabowo as a person with a true statesman’s spirit, magnanimous, patriotic, embracing both friends and foes,” said Ujang.
Ujang noted that Prabowo demonstrated a great heart and overcame his ego to visit and reconcile with Cak Imin, who was once a rival and nearly formed a coalition with him before ultimately choosing to run with Anies Rasyid Baswedan as his vice-presidential candidate.
“These gestures indicate that Prabowo is a leader willing to approach and embrace his opponents, with a good, sincere, and genuine intention to build the nation together,” Ujang stated.
Ujang believes it is clear that Prabowo has always intended to embrace all parties, whether they supported him or not in the 2024 election, to collectively build the nation.
“We see from Mr. Prabowo’s desire to embrace all components of the nation, including those who were defeated, such as PKB, reflecting a president-elect with a spirit of patriotism who embraces the defeated. This sets a good example for all citizens,” concluded Ujang.
As known, in the Open Plenary Meeting for the Declaration of the Elected President and Vice President of the 2024 Election held today at the Main Courtroom, KPU Building, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka were officially declared president and vice president-elect. Subsequently, Prabowo visited the PKB headquarters to engage in dialogue.
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity now, I had the honor this afternoon to be invited to the PKB headquarters, to meet and discuss with the top leadership of PKB especially today, where this morning at the KPU, I officially received the KPU’s decision as a result of our constitutional election process. I accept the declaration as President-elect for the 2024-2029 period along with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka,” said Prabowo.
