During the National Teachers’ Day event at Velodrome, Jakarta, teachers praised President Prabowo Subianto’s policy to increase the salaries of both Civil Servants (ASN) and honorary non-ASN educators. President Prabowo announced a salary increase equivalent to one month’s basic salary for ASN teachers, and a raise in professional allowances up to IDR 2 million for non-ASN teachers who have completed certification.
One of the teachers present, Witentireli, expressed her emotions and pride about the policy, stating that the President’s focus on education signifies the nation-building starting from schools. She highlighted the immense responsibility on teachers in shaping Indonesia’s future intelligence. She pledged to contribute to realizing a strong and great Indonesia through quality education.
Another teacher, Ema Siloni from Sorong, West Papua, shared her admiration for President Prabowo’s support for educators’ welfare. She described the atmosphere during the event as extraordinary and stunning, emphasizing the significance of the President’s acknowledgement of the teaching profession.
Expressing hopes beyond financial welfare, teachers aspire for peace and comfort in their work to deliver quality education. The sentiment of returning teaching hours to 18 hours per week was also echoed, emphasizing the need for a conducive working environment for educators.
