President Prabowo Subianto expressed his confidence in Indonesia’s ability to reach net-zero carbon emissions on schedule, positioning the country as one of the first to achieve this milestone. During a video conference on the inauguration of renewable energy development and oil production expansion in East Java, Prabowo highlighted Indonesia’s capability to efficiently generate energy and reduce costly logistics chains.
He emphasized that energy independence plays a crucial role in Indonesia’s vision for national sovereignty. The government’s strategy includes launching 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to provide clean, reliable, and efficient energy across the archipelago.
President Prabowo commended the collective effort of ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies such as Medco Energi and ExxonMobil for supporting Indonesia’s energy transformation. While acknowledging the significant reserves of oil and gas in the country, he emphasized the importance of renewable energy, particularly solar power, in ensuring energy self-sufficiency for communities across Indonesia.
Prabowo expressed optimism for Indonesia’s future, citing solar energy as a beacon of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. By harnessing renewable energy sources, Indonesia can pave the way for a brighter and more sustainable future.
