President Prabowo Meets Indonesia’s Diaspora in Brazil: A Special Moment

The presence of President Prabowo Subianto in Brazil was a moment of pride for the Indonesian diaspora. Isaque Hattu, Chair of the Indonesian Diaspora in São Paulo, was among those who warmly welcomed the President during his visit on Saturday morning. Hattu expressed his delight in welcoming President Prabowo and the delegation, highlighting the strong sense of solidarity within the Indonesian community in Brazil. Despite their small numbers, they were pleased to greet their homeland’s leader. During the meeting, Hattu had the opportunity to converse with Prabowo informally, sharing his family background with the President. Prabowo showed interest in Hattu’s story, especially his parents’ background in Maluku and Kupang, and even recognized the name of Petrus Oktavianus, an Indonesian figure previously assigned to Brazil. As their conversation came to an end, Hattu expressed hope that Prabowo’s leadership would enhance the relationship between Indonesia and Brazil through cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
