Indonesia Urges BRICS Nations to Boost Indonesian Product Imports

President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, has participated in the BRICS Summit for the first time as a newly admitted full member. The summit, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, focused on strengthening international economic cooperation. Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, highlighted the key outcomes of the summit, including the Leaders’ Declaration that emphasized the importance of multilateralism and the reform of global governance.

Airlangga pointed out that the second point of the Declaration, which focuses on promoting peace, security, international stability, and enhancing economic cooperation, is particularly significant for Indonesia. The goal is to expand market access for Indonesian products within the BRICS framework.

In addition to the founding members of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), the summit was attended by newly admitted countries like Indonesia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates. This marks an important step for Indonesia’s participation in international economic cooperation and trade within the BRICS alliance.
