Prabowo Welcomes Brazilian President’s Plan for Business Leaders in Indonesia

Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, expressed his excitement regarding Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s proposal to bring hundreds of Brazilian entrepreneurs to Indonesia. This announcement came after a bilateral meeting between Prabowo and Lula at Palácio do Planalto in Brasília on July 9th. Prabowo warmly welcomed the initiative, believing that it could enhance cooperation between both countries in terms of trade and investment significantly. He pointed out the shared interests and vast potential for economic collaboration between Indonesia and Brazil, noting their large populations and abundant natural resources. Prabowo highlighted the importance of moving beyond signed agreements to concrete actions that benefit both nations. He also praised Brazil’s achievements in agriculture and bioenergy, expressing Indonesia’s interest in learning from Brazil’s experiences. Furthermore, Prabowo appreciated Lula’s support for Indonesia’s plan to send technical teams to study Brazil’s innovations. Apart from the bilateral meeting, Prabowo was in Brazil for the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, where Lula is set to visit Indonesia in October. Prabowo ended the statement by mentioning a planned celebration in Jakarta for Lula’s 80th birthday in October.
