Jakarta – The newly elected President, Prabowo Subianto, extended his thanks to his fellow presidential and vice-presidential candidates from the 2024 election, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.
Prabowo remarked that this year’s political contestation represented the democracy desired by the nation and the people of Indonesia. Although the competition’s tension was sometimes intense, he emphasized that the value of unity must always be maintained.
“Although the contestation was fierce and heated at times, one thing we all witnessed together is that no matter how tough or sharp it gets, we remain part of the same lineage, one big family, we are all children of Indonesia,” Prabowo stated at the KPU in Jakarta on Wednesday (April 24).
He acknowledged that the 2024 presidential contest had concluded, though he recognized that there were still parties dissatisfied with the results.
Prabowo also expressed his gratitude to Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud for their efforts in the 2024 political contest.
“I thank Mas Anies and Muhaimin, as well as Mas Ganjar and Prof Mahfud. We have all struggled. I believe their motivations are the same as mine,” said Prabowo.
Moreover, Prabowo invited all parties, especially the leaders and political elites of Indonesia, to unite and collaborate for the prosperity and welfare of the people.
“Apart from the contestation, the people demand that all leadership elements must work together, collaborate, to bring about goodness, prosperity, to eliminate poverty, hunger, and corruption,” Prabowo explained.
He called on everyone to set aside differences, cultivate a love for the homeland, and make sacrifices for the Indonesian people who are still facing difficulties. “Only by uniting can we achieve our aspirations,” Prabowo firmly concluded.
