PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) has not officially launched the Toyota Hilux Rangga 2024 yet. However, the lightweight single-cab pickup truck, which replaces the Toyota Kijang pickup, can be seen at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) held from February 15-25, 2024 at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. The 2024 Hilux Rangga, positioned just below the Toyota Hilux single cab, is not like your typical pickup truck. This vehicle not only offers durability, but also driving comfort. The Hilux Rangga 2024 is built on the IMV (Innovative International Multi-Purpose Vehicle) platform and the model showcased at the Toyota booth at IIMS is the diesel MT variant. The 3-way Hilux Rangga’s side view and main lamp fascia use halogen bulbs. Its grille is full black, and the turn signal is located next to the main lamp, with the fender above the front wheel. On the right side, there’s a flexible antenna pole that can be raised or lowered. The 14-inch black steel wheels with 205/75 tires are the wheel circle option. Its modern-shaped mirrors have a matte black cover and manual adjustment. The Hilux Rangga identity is displayed on the side door with the inscription HILUX RANGGA. The showcased cargo bed has a 3-way opening to make it easier for users to lift or lower items from the back or side. At the rear, there’s a spare tire hanging below. The fuel filler hole is in the middle left with a diesel car label and recommended fuel use sticker. Looking inside the cabin, this variant of the Hilux Rangga is equipped with an open storage bin with a long, flat shape on the door trim. The car’s windows use a crank handle to manually raise and lower them. The steering wheel area of this type of Hilux Rangga does not have a tachometer on the meter cluster. The driving information center only displays an analog odometer and fuel meter, with a small MID at the bottom center that serves as a trip meter. The single din head unit and hazard button as well as the blower fan button without AC temperature control are on the center cluster. In the middle console area just in front of the car’s transmission lever, there are two cup holders that can be used to hold bottles or other small items. The passenger area of this car has a tiered open storage bin on the dashboard that feels ergonomic. The 2GD-FTV diesel engine is equipped with power steering in its steering system, as well as a 2.393 cc 2GD-FTV 4-cylinder inline engine, 16-valve DOHC with VNT Intercooler. This engine is capable of producing up to 150 PS at 3,400 rpm and a torque of 343 Nm at 1,200 – 2,600 rpm. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission that is then translated to the rear wheels.
