Prabowo Subianto Calls Trump to Congratulate Him on Winning the U.S. Presidential Election, Expresses Interest in Meeting

Washington, D.C. – President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, extended his congratulations to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump via a phone call, as seen in a video shared by Prabowo on his Instagram account, @prabowo, on Sunday evening, November 10 (WIB).

Currently in the United States on an official visit to meet with President Joe Biden, Prabowo’s trip marks his first visit to the U.S. as Indonesia’s president.

“I wanted to congratulate you on your election as President of the United States,” Prabowo said in the conversation, to which Trump responded with gratitude.

Prabowo further expressed his desire to meet with Trump in person to convey his congratulations face-to-face.

“If possible, I would like to meet with you directly, wherever you are, to personally extend my congratulations,” Prabowo added.

“Absolutely. We can arrange that anytime you wish,” Trump replied.

During their conversation, Trump praised Prabowo’s achievements in Indonesia, commenting on his excellent command of English.

“What you’re doing in Indonesia is remarkable. I’m proud of you. Outstanding work. And your English is very impressive,” said Trump.

Trump also mentioned his interest in visiting Indonesia one day and expressed his respect for the Indonesian people and Prabowo himself.

“Fantastic! Yes, anytime you’re nearby, just let me know. I would love to visit your country someday as well. What you’re accomplishing is impressive, truly. You are very respected, and I acknowledge that—it’s not an easy feat,” said Trump.

“Thank you, sir. I’ll visit you at your convenience if possible,” Prabowo responded.

“Yes, feel free to contact me anytime. You have my number. It’s been an honor speaking with you, and I look forward to our meeting. Please convey my warm regards to your people. I have great respect for them and for you,” Trump concluded. (RR)
