Macron-Prabowo Meeting: Stronger Indonesia-France Friendship

French President Emmanuel Macron recently visited Indonesia, highlighting the deep and meaningful partnership between the two countries. Macron stated that the friendship between Indonesia and France is more than just a symbol, but a real and strong cooperation. During his visit, he was warmly welcomed by President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

Macron expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and emphasized the opportunity to elevate the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He mentioned the importance of cooperation in various fields such as the economy, technology, security, and culture.

Indonesia and France have maintained diplomatic relations for 75 years, with significant progress made in the past decade. Macron also recognized Indonesia’s role in maintaining regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and highlighted the progress in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition agenda.

Cultural collaboration was also a key focus for Macron, and a cultural agreement will be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the growing friendship between the two nations. Macron expressed his gratitude to President Prabowo for the warm welcome and expressed optimism for continued joint efforts during his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
