Ester Nenggokaka, a resident of Southwest Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, has always led a simple life. Despite facing numerous challenges, she remains dedicated to providing the best for her two children. Through selling vegetables in the morning and caring for her family, Ester exemplifies resilience and determination.
One of Ester’s children, Lorensius Aganta, a two-year-old, was underweight, weighing only 7 kilograms before receiving meals from the Free Nutritious Meal (Makan Bergizi Gratis, MBG) program. Ester expressed her gratitude for this initiative, highlighting the positive impact it had on her son’s health.
With the regular distribution of MBG meals, Ester has noticed a small yet significant change in her son’s weight. She eagerly anticipates the next health check at the local community clinic to monitor his progress. Every morning, Ester receives a nutritious array of food items including eggs, fish, meat, tofu, tempeh, and vegetables for her children, ensuring they consume a balanced diet.
While acknowledging the support of the MBG program, Ester also looks towards the future with hope. She envisions a brighter tomorrow and hopes for further assistance from President Prabowo to uplift their living standards. Despite living in challenging circumstances without access to electricity or land ownership, Ester finds solace in the meals that nourish her child and nurture a sense of optimism for the days ahead.
