Prabowo Subianto Warns of Global Instability: Some World Leaders Lack Wisdom

Jakarta — Indonesia’s President-elect, Prabowo Subianto, has issued a warning about the fragile state of global affairs, attributing much of the growing tension to what he describes as the unwise actions of certain world leaders.

“The world is in a very fragile state, with world leaders who, in my opinion, are displaying attitudes that are not wise,” Prabowo remarked during his speech at the opening of the Forum Sinergitas Legislator PKB in Jakarta on Thursday (October 10).

Prabowo also criticized certain nations for focusing solely on imposing their will on others, asserting that global harmony requires tolerance and mutual respect.

“We need wisdom. We need an atmosphere of mutual respect, not one where countries impose their will on others. But right now, there are nations seeking to impose their own will,” he said.

He further highlighted the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran, noting the severe human toll of these conflicts, with many innocent civilians losing their lives.

“We are witnessing, right before our eyes, innocent people, including women and children, being slaughtered and bombed—not in small numbers, but in the hundreds of thousands,” Prabowo explained.

“Israel has stated that it will attack Iran, and Iran has declared that it is ready to retaliate on a massive scale,” he added.

Despite the global instability, Prabowo acknowledged that Indonesia remains peaceful, a situation he believes is worth appreciating. He credited this peace to the openness of dialogue among various elements within the country, including political parties. Prabowo expressed his belief that, although PKB (Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa) supported a different candidate in the last election, they would still collaborate to build the nation together.

“We are grateful that we respect differences. We may differ, but we gather together. Differences can lead to cooperation, even though in the last election PKB supported another candidate,” Prabowo said.

“I am confident that PKB will join me in building this nation. There is no problem in being different,” he concluded. (RR)
