Prabowo Acknowledges Tough Talks on Trump Tariffs, Agreement Reached

President Prabowo Subianto recently shared details about his successful negotiations with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding trade tariffs. The talks, which took place at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta, were described as tough but ultimately fruitful. Both leaders demonstrated a mutual understanding of each other’s national interests during the discussions. As a result of the negotiations, the United States agreed to lower import tariffs on Indonesian goods from 32% to 19%.

Prabowo highlighted the careful calculation and strong focus on protecting the interests of the public and domestic workers throughout the negotiation process. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the security of Indonesian workers and expressed confidence in Indonesia’s economic resilience amidst global uncertainties. Prabowo also hinted at an upcoming visit to the United States, with a potential meeting with President Trump scheduled for September or October.

In a lighter moment, Prabowo jokingly mentioned his nerves about the possibility of playing golf with Trump during the visit. The negotiations, although tough, resulted in a beneficial agreement for both countries.
